Hundreds enjoy fishing experience

The Waitara Surfcasting and Angling Club has again excelled itself with a big turnout for its annual Take a Kid Fishing day

Waitara stalwart Trevor Dodunski has done it again.

With assistance from many other individuals and businesses, the Dodunski-led annual Take a Kid Fishing Day, run under the banner of the Waitara Surfcasting and Angling Club, has inspired another group of youngsters about the joys and benefits of fishing.

This year's event, held on February 16, saw a whopping 655 children registered, this only being possible through the efforts of Dodunski and others, and a generous grant from the Taranaki Electricity Trust.

"Without the assistance of TET this event would not go ahead so we are very appreciative of the support," Dodunski said.

"This is about our community bringing families together for a fun-filed day."

"As the saying goes, teach a child to fish and feed a family for life."
